WHAT IS JHMT

The Johns Hopkins Math Tournament (JHMT) is an annual, student-run math competition designed for middle and high school students globally. For over 20 years, JHMT has challenged the most innovative minds with creative problem-solving tasks requiring a sophisticated understanding of a wide range of mathematical concepts.

Contest format

The JHMT is divided into two categories: Middle School and High School. Participants will compete as an individual and can choose to participate in a team round if registered as part of a school team. The individual round will be a 45 question, 90 minute exam covering algebra, geometry, number theory, combinatorics, and calculus (high school only). The section is designed to test speed, accuracy, and quick thinking. This round is designed to assess speed, accuracy, and quick problem-solving skills. The team round is a 5-question, 60-minute exam featuring proof-based problems on similar topics. It aims to challenge creative thinking and encourages teamwork.
